Today's adventure with local businesses takes us to the windy city of Chicago and where SaverTimer Alisha will show you how to sip and savor the best libations the city has to offer at Rittergut Wine Bar.

When the weather is beautiful in downtown Chicago, all you want to do is sit outside, sip wine, and enjoy the view of the river. And where's a great place to do all that? Rittergut Wine Bar in the Loop! This hidden gem is located on the bottom floor of the CME building. This local business' location is a prime spot, since it's only a few blocks from Willis Tower and right beside the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

If the weather is gorgeous like when I visited, I highly recommend taking a seat at their outdoor patio. The wicker black booths are very comfortable and the view is quite wonderful. You'll see boats passing by and feel the light breeze play with your hair. And like I always say, a great view enhances the wine by a great amount. This wine bar restaurant also offers a unique dining experience at the Tasting Bar (designed for customized tastings), private dining in their bigger Red Wine room or Barrel room, and inside dining for those chilly nights. From all the hidden nooks of seating, you can tell this place was intended to give customers a wonderful place to hang out and socialize.

For our afternoon experience, we kept it light by ordering the assorted cheese & charcuterie plate (3 of each for $23) where we enjoyed artisan cheeses and charcuterie like the camembert (rich, creamy and sweet cheese) and the cantimpalo chorizo (pork sausage cured with Spanish paprika). Even though the food was plenty, we devoured it and licked our fingers in delight.

The best part of this place is the service. The waitresses and waiters know exactly which wine pairs with which cheese or meats. They are extremely helpful in guiding you in the right direction, which made the experience even more memorable. My fiancé and I are just getting into the wine scene and appreciated all the help. I ended up ordering the Sparkling flights, and the waitress helped me pick out the cheese that would bring out the flavors, like the crisp fruit, pink rose, and more.

For a delightful experience in the Windy City, make it a lazy afternoon sipping wine and having great conversations at 4.5 Yelp-rated Chicago wine bar Rittergut.

One of my favorite weekend activities is strolling through the colorful aisles of local nurseries, looking for inspiration for my garden, and unique business Green Mart in Anaheim is just the place to let your green thumb run wild.

Located out of a sea foam green craftsman home on Lincoln Street, the charm of Green Mart garden store immediately catches your eye. From the outside, you expect to be shopping for flowers from a sweet grandmother's backyard, but once inside you'll see this greenhouse isn't messing around. The home and back yard has been expanded to house a massive inventory of fragrant flowers, fruit trees, and shrubberies. This  garden store's unique factor comes from their large stock of exotic Asian plants, including lucky bamboo, beautiful orchids, and ornate bonsais as far as the eye can see. A visit to this boutique plant shop feels like a trip to the zoo, discovering extraordinary plant life you never knew existed. It's hard not to spend a couple hours just exploring the wonders they have in each aisle.

If you're looking for a plant or tree to make your garden stand out or a one-of-a-kind gift, Green Mart is where you'll find it, and their prices are very reasonable.  Yelpers give this local business 4 1/2 stars and praise "the owners are so helpful and informative" and "A wonderful garden nursery with unbeatable prices."

We hope you'll pay them a visit if you're in the area. The skies are blue, the weather is warm, and your garden is begging for you to come out and play.

Today's adventure with local businesses is a healthy one. Join SaverTimer Elizabeth as she shops for fresh fruits and veggies at local Anaheim grocery Wholesome Choice.

When I first moved to California from Texas, I was shocked by the high grocery store prices. I love using fresh veggies in my cooking (I actually get cravings for vegetables), but when a trip to the local big chain store racked up a $50 price tag, I questioned whether I could still afford it. Luckily my mother-in-law pointed me in the direction of Wholesome Choice or I'd probably have moved back to Texas.

Wholesome Choice looks like a big chain store on the outside, but when you get inside, the prices are anything but. There are two locations in Irvine and Anaheim, and I've enjoyed shopping at both. The store is a little jam-packed, so you have to be OK with rubbing elbows, but the prices will leave you hooked. You can walk away with fresh herbs for under a dollar a bundle, bags of yellow squash for $2, and an armful of oranges for next to nothing. I even took home two whole chickens once for $5. They often have bundles of fruit and veggies for $1 a bag. Yes, you have to eat this produce soon, but it's still delicious and a bargain. On top of wholesome produce, they specialize in specialty spices and ingredients from around the world - so this is the place to go for your adventurous recipes.

If you work up an appetite while you're shopping, they also have an amazing food court and bakery in the center of the store, where you can try Persian, Thai, Mediterranean, Lebanese, and other delicacies from around the world.

I especially love Wholesome Choice because they make healthy food affordable for everyone in the community. From granola moms, to hipsters, to the needy, everyone can find the makings of a good meal here. And I hope I'll see you there on my next visit.

When you're a kid, everything seems oversized. You have to stand on your tiptoes to see over counters; grocery stores are easy to get lost in, and everyone towers over you. Some days you just want to feel big. Meet today's unique business Tiny Town in Morrison, Colorado, where the world is a playground of pint-sized proportions.

Nestled in the Denver foothills, Tiny Town is at the top of every tot's summer activities list. With no buildings built taller than eye-level, Tiny Town is just the right size for your kids' big imaginations. Play mayor at a tiny town hall, stage a stage-coach stick-em up at the old Bank and Mint, and enjoy a round-trip tour on three tiny trains, including a real miniature steam engine.

Tiny Town has been entertaining children for almost 100 years and has a history as vibrant as its tiny tourists.  Tiny Town was originally built with just a few buildings by George Turner in 1915 as a place for his daughter to play. By 1924 it was open to the public and had expanded to 125 tiny buildings, including a grocery store, barber shop, church, and more. Like any city, it has experienced its own economic ups and downs, but it's experienced a resurgence in interest over the past two decades. Modern Tiny Town boasts over 90 buildings, including several restored originals from the '20s.

Tiny Town is an affordable outing that's sure to leave everyone in the family smiling ear to ear. Adults are only $5, and kids 2-12 are $3. Kids under 2 get in free. Tiny Town is only open during the summer, Memorial Day to Labor Day, so be sure to make this a stop on your vacation.
